Constructed in 2002, this 40,000 square foot retail center is now the “face” of downtown Marshfield. It replaced the dilapidated and vacant buildings that had been along Ocean Street, a main thoroughfare, for years. Designed by the Boston-based, but nationally known architectural firm, Utile, and constructed by CB Construction, The Shops at OCEAN’S GATE features a wide variety of health and beauty services such as Elizabeth Grady, Get in Shape for Women, Genesis Personal Training, Cycle Town, and Salon di Suites, among others. They are joined by a palette of restaurants, including Station 8, K-Katie’s, and Bungalow Kitchen. It is largely the focus on health and beauty, providing services that were unavailable online, that allowed The Shops at OCEAN’S GATE to thrive during the pandemic.
The Shops at OCEAN’S GATE is credited with creating an entirely new image of this seaside community’s downtown and, in the process, it created a far more fitting image for the town itself.
