Located on lower Beacon Street in Brookline, this project was one of the first “gut” (complete) renovations to be sold as condominiums in Brookline. 1079 and 1081 Beacon were developed first and contained 8 units with associated parking in the rear. The success of the latter resulted in the purchase and development of 1083 Beacon Street, or Sears-Burton House, into an additional 4 condominium units with parking.
The units, primarily single-level “floor-thru,” offerings, followed the Back Bay model of the early 1970s of having living/dining areas overlooking Beacon Street; kitchen and bathroom cores in the middle; and bedrooms consigned to the rear and overlooking the alley parking.
The architecture for the “gut” renovations of the three buildings was done “in-house” by the developer, and the general contractor was CB Construction. Marketing and sales were handled by the developer.
